Callaway Golf Review: X-22 Irons and X-22 Tour Irons

Callaway Golf Review: X-22 Irons and X-22 Tour Irons
By maximizing perimeter weighting, the X-22 Irons and X-22 Tour Irons from Callaway?boast an MOI that's 10 percent higher than their predecessors. The ideal CG position has been preserved, generating optimal ball-flight trajectories. Today I will review both the standard and Tour versions of the Callaway X-22.

The topline is not as thick as many GI clubs, nor is the sole, but they are not exactly miniscule. The cavity is nicely done, but a little showy.?Grip could be better, but not aweful. Some features of the X-22 clubs are perimeter weighting, modified Tru-Bore, tour inspired head shape, and VFT technology. S2H2 and 36- Degree Undercut Channel helps move the CG even further back than it's predecessor for a very large hitting area. The Uniflex shaft is fairly stiff, not a problem for me, but potetially problematic for some. The irons are a new model generally aimed mostly at mid to high handicappers

Finally decided to upgrade to some real clubs and was lucky enough to try out six sets of quality irons for 9 holes each over a couple of days. The Callaway X-22 Irons were my favorite. I was hitting noticeably straighter and farther. I had to drop down a club in nearly every instance. Easily hit straight, but provide good feedback. Not unsliceable, or unworkable, but they toe a nice like in forgiveness and workability. Nice and long. I averaged about half a club longer with these than with Burner 09's.?

Callaway X-22 Tour Irons
Callaway Golf's engineers packed the X-22 Tours with a host of technological aids, among which are their Precision Notch Weighting and a new sleeker hosel to raise the moment of inertia (MOI) for better stability during impact. The clubface employs Variable Face Technology (VFT) which maximises ball speed, and perimeter weighting for more distance and forgiveness. It also allows the Center of Gravity (COG) to be moved lower and more in line with the cente

r of the face for better trajectory, which also significantly enhances the level of feel.?

The Callaway X-22 Tour Irons offer the playability that the discerning player demands, while also giving the forgiveness that many players desire. Designed after the hugely successful X-Tour Forged irons the X-22 Tour irons are a great set for that player who is looking for a little extra help.
